An Advisory Committee has been established to reinforce the credibility of the Foundation 'Zeilen met visie' and its fund raising actions. Several very important people have been attracted to become a member of this committee.
Drs. W.J. Deetman - born in The Hague 03-04-1945 - is a prominent christian democratic politician and governor. In 1981 Wim Deetman became Undersecretary for Secondary Education. From 1982 till 1989 he was Minister for Education and Science in the cabinets leaded by Prime Minister Lubbers. After the chairmanship in the House of Parliament, Deetman was mayor of The Hague during the period 1996 till 2007. On the first of January 2008 he joined the State Council. Wim Deetman has been a member of the committee of the Society Bartiméus.
Professor dr. W.J. Ockels - born 28-03-1946 - was the first Dutch astronaut. He made his space flight with the space shuttle ‘Challengerâ between October 31st and November 6th 1985. During this flight he was responsible for the measuring systems of the space lab D1. Using this equipment more than seventy experiments were done concerning five different scientific fields. In 1992 Wubbo Ockels became professor in Air and Space Traveling Technology at the Technical University Delft, The Netherlands.
Carolijn Brouwer - born 25-07-1973 - is an international personality. She was born in The Netherlands and lived for a long time in Brasil and - for a shorter period - in former Kongo. As a result of this, she speaks fluently Portuguese, English and Dutch, of course. She manages to speak and understand French and Spanish as well. At the age of fourteen, she came back to The Netherlands where she ended up in the sports.
Her first breakthrough was with the 'Laser Radial' with which she got two world championships. Because of this success, she was asked to join the Olympic Europe class. Soon, she got several top achievements such as two world championships. Due to a strong competition in her own country, she was not selected for the Olympic Games of Atlanta (1996). During these games, her rival got silver. The same happened during the Olympics in Sydney (2000). Because of this, Carolijn quickly moved to the 470-class and was able to join the selection of these games. In Sydney she became eleventh on the list. In Athens (2004) she managed to sail the Europe-class, but did not get to the top. Carolijn is a smooth talker, is photogenic and has an inexhaustible passion.
